Shopify to SmithShop Migration Guide

Shopify migrations usually start with CSV exports and careful domain timing. Do not switch DNS until the SmithShop checkout has passed live-mode testing.

Export products, collections, image URLs, variants, tags, customers, orders, discounts, redirects, policy pages, and SEO fields.

Migration checklist

  • Export products, categories, images, customers, orders, coupons, tax settings, shipping settings, SEO metadata, and current URLs before touching DNS.
  • Clean the product CSV before importing. Keep SKUs, prices, stock, image URLs, weights, dimensions, categories, SEO titles, and descriptions in clear columns.
  • Rebuild payment, shipping, tax, email, analytics, and fulfillment credentials inside SmithShop with fresh keys from each provider.
  • Add redirects for old product, category, and CMS page URLs that already receive traffic or have search rankings.
  • Place test orders for physical products, digital products, coupons, tax, shipping quotes, payment gateways, order email, and admin fulfillment before launch.

SmithShop setup path

  • Import or recreate categories first, then products, variants, options, images, and downloadable files.
  • Configure payment gateways, shipping providers, tax rules, email delivery, analytics, marketing tools, policies, and admin users.
  • Test checkout from the storefront and confirm the order appears correctly in admin before the final domain switch.
